4th-Oct-2008 05:01 pm - Back from a mission
Default
I’ve just gotten back from a minor assignment. A brief tour around the grossly barren ledges that surround Midgar were more than my bored mind could possibly handle. Does anyone know why relatively nothing unique grows around Midgar for miles? And I really do mean, miles.

Things seemed to have picked up around here, so I’ve probably missed out on something. If anyone cares to fill me in, please do so.

Also if you’re reading this for some reason Zack Fair, I hope your mission went well.

I wasn’t able to catch up with you afterwards since I was tossed into a mission of my own that kept me outside Midgar for a week. If you ever want to practice again, or grab a drink, let me know.

After what seems like months of boring and routine assignments (or no assignments at all), I got to put myself to work. These malfunctioning mechanisms are surely an eye sore for the company, but they give us something to do. That’s pretty sad isn’t it? I managed to catch a few nicks here and there, but it was nothing a good potion couldn’t get rid of.

I staggered onto the scene by chance, and now I find mind self listlessly roaming around, ever so hopeful, something fucking occurs again. I feel like I’m losing my mind. On a small side note, I think some of the people that work by the train station in sector one recognize me by face. I can’t say the attention is unwelcome.

Genesis, Angeal, and Sephiroth all have their respective fan clubs right?

Heh

On another side note… those poor people who got caught in the crossfire of those robots and the MPs...

I wonder if they knew their time was going to come to such an abrupt end. Its weird, I’ve seen many casualties before but that was out in the field or in the slums where such dangers are expected. Above the plate, so close to ShinRa HQ…

Meh, whatever

I received mail today; not an email mind you... I received the type that is physically written on a piece of paper and delivered by archaic means of transportation. In a world riddled with PDA phones and internet, it’s a rather surprising delivery. Of course my parents would be the only people in this world who would attempt to contact me by this way.

Needless to say, I didn’t bother reading it since it’ll be the same content as the bullshit they send every year from Cosmo Canyon. It’s sitting open but unread on my desk top.

But this in itself brings me to my next curiosity. It seems my personal mail was opened and resealed before it had been delivered to me. Perhaps I’m seeing this wrong but I’m almost certain it was opened and then re-sealed in a different envelope. The hand writing on this envelope looks like my mothers… but it’s not.

It’s just not. I can’t tell how I know this; I just feel that I’m right. The hand writing inside on the letter definitely belongs to my mother and father. Again, I don’t know how I know… I just do.

Whoever it is that went through my personal mail, I want it to stop.

♦ SEPC Employee Records Document
Name: Avery Archer
Age: 19
Affiliation: ShinRa
Occupation: 3rd class SOLDIER

Appearance: Standing at a height of 6’1, Avery easily towers over most people naturally. The ebony haired SOLDIER, born and raised in Cosmo Canyon, has a distinct tribal look that makes him awkwardly stand out in a normal crowd. With skin the color of cinnamon and a pair of glowing light green eyes, the SOLDIER is further distinguishable by the tribal tattoos that run all throughout his upper back, shoulders, and left arms. His shoulder length mane of ebony hair is randomly braided throughout and tied at the ends with red hawk feathers that lead him to look more like an untamed animal then an approachable person. When not dressed in a standard SOLDIER uniform, Avery is often in a simple wife beater and a pair of ripped up jeans.

Background: Born in Cosmo Canyon, Avery had always been the black sheep of the family. Raised with three younger sisters and one older brother, Avery was taught and raised in a strict disciplinarian way. Tired and suffocating from the lack of spontaneity while growing up, Avery often viewed the philosophies of Cosmo Canyon to be suppressive and restrictive. Ultimately the falling out with his family resulted in Avery’s move to Midgar at the age of 15 when he ran away from his parents and his home town. While living off the streets under the Midgar Plate, Avery enlisted in the ShinRa military at the age of 16. In an effort to express rebellion against the teachings of Cosmo Canyon, Avery strived to be the best in the ShinRa military, embracing a lifestyle that was frowned upon by the planet loving preservationists of Cosmo Canyon. Making it into the SOLDIER program by the age of 17, Avery is continuing his service to ShinRa with ruthless brutality. In his hunger to reach the top, Mr. Archer jumps at any opportunity to stand out amongst the crowd and often distances himself from his competitors to a certain degree. Avery easily befriends non-SOLDIER ShinRa military personnel, and only keeps a select few friends within the SOLDIER programme.

Personality: Avery is a contemplative character by nature and many incorrectly view him as a stoic. Flirty and vivacious around the ones he knows and quiet and sedated around strangers, Avery often doesn’t discuss the details of his personal life. Having dealt with the ShinRa military programme for the majority of his adolescence, Avery is desensitized towards violence and the macho-chauvinistic culture of the army life. For his superiors, he performs like a well honed engine, but shows little enthusiasm for anything that isn’t related to his potential in moving up ranks.

Strengths: Avery’s relentless hunger to advance makes him a dangerous rival and a fierce comrade. Once the outer shell of his demeanor is cracked, the boy from Cosmo Canyon is surprisingly witty and has a strong sense of camaraderie with his close knit of friends.

Weaknesses: Avery’s blasé attitude towards anything unrelated to his mission work makes him seem like he’s uncaring. His sarcastic demeanor and cool vibe makes him feel impersonal or stoic.

Weapon(s)/Materia/Limits: Avery uses a pair of round shields with a razor circumference as his main weapons of choice. The pair of shields, usually latched onto his left and right forearms can be used in multiple fashions. They can be thrown much like a large shuriken, or used as a traditional shield for defense. Avery often chooses to run into close quarter combat by using his shields as a defensive mechanism, and then use the razor bladed circumference much like a cutting weapon through a series of swipes.
